Chairman of Handsworth Football Club of Lagos, Tajudeen Olasunkanmi has heaped praise on his former pupil Sunday Adetunji.
Sunday Adetunji started his football career as a goalkeeper with Handsworth FC before being converted to a center-forward after some time.
The 23-years-old left Handsworth for bigger things after spending three years at the regional league side. He currently plays in the NPFL for Rivers United FC and has a national team appearance to his name with the home-based Super Eagles.
In a chat with Sports247, Olasunkanmi spoke highly of his former player.
“Sunday Adetunji is one of the best strikers in Nigeria today. He started with me at Handsworth FC back in 2009.
“He played in the FA Cup 2010. In the following year, he was part of the winning team of the Ogun State Cup before he left to another club.
“He was one of my best boys then because he was a committed player. He had endurance.”
Tajudeen Olasunkanmi also lamented having not yet received a compensation fee for his role in the player’s early development.
“Up till now, I haven’t received any fee on Adetunji. I trained him, gave him the confidence to be a good player but I didn’t get anything on him. It’s not supposed to be.” Olasunkanmi said.
