Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu‘s senior special assistant on sports, Mr Damilare Orimoloye has provided details about the boxing competition billed to hold in Surulere this weekend.

July 20th is the date, and 12pm is commencement time, as hidden talents will converge under the bridge in front of Lagos National Stadium for what Orimoloye disclosed is officially tagged ‘Street Rumble Boxing Season 1.’
Orimoloye disclosed further that the competition, which is being organised in conjunction with Lagos State Sports Commission, aims to provide future representatives at the National Sports Festival and prevent youngsters from getting involved in anti-social activities.
The youthful SSA on sports to Governor Sanwo-Olu added, “We have a lot of talents on the streets of Lagos and we need to start doing things well in order to convert their energy into positive ends.
“We want to spot young people who have the energy and what it takes to be a success in boxing. We want them to be involved in sports, rather than for them to be on the street fighting or causing various kinds of violence.”
Orimoloye also spoke about various dividends of the competition that are expected to yield abundant benefits for Lagos State in years to come.
“We have put this together for them to come out and showcase what they have.
“We also want to ensure that, in the nearest future, we still have more and greater boxers to represent Lagos State.
“This we will continue doing in partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission,” Orimoloye concluded with a deep level of optimism in his voice.
