Steven Gerard Clears The Air On Joe Aribo’s ‘False’ Covid-19 Illness

Joe Aribo will miss out again after Rangers announced the former Charlton man had a “minor illness” which will be treated over the weekend having also sat out Thursday’s draw with Benfica. Ryan Jack has a knock which means he will also be absent alongside Nikola Katic (knee) and the suspended pair of Jordan Jones and George Edmundson.

Meanwhile, Steven has also Gerrard confirmed midfielder Joe Aribo missed the draw with Benfica on Thursday night through illness.

The Rangers boss revealed fitness doubts over Ryan Jack and Bongani Zungu earlier this week.

And the Gers boss cleared up Aribo’s absence following a thrilling European encounter, Gerrard said: “He was unwell. He had a stomach complaint [on Wednesday] night. Hopefully, he will be available for the weekend.

“It’s important to say it is not COVID-19 related. He was negative on his test before people start putting two and two together.”

Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu could make a return to action against the Central Lowlands side.
