In a bid to bolster Nigeria’s presence on the international sports stage, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has unveiled plans to forge a partnership with military and para-military institutions.
This initiative aims to nurture top-tier athletes capable of clinching laurels for the nation on the global platform.

During his address at the inaugural Military and Para-Military Judo Championship in Abuja on February 14th, Senator Enoh lamented the decline in the role of military and para-military establishments in fostering sports talents over the years.
He underscored the need to revitalize this tradition, highlighting the abundant potential it offers.
Commending the Nigeria Judo Federation for spearheading the championship, Senator Enoh urged other sports federations to emulate this collaborative model.
By engaging with military and para-military institutions, he believes Nigeria’s prospects for podium success can be significantly enhanced.
Furthermore, Senator Enoh pledged unwavering support for the growth of various sports disciplines nationwide.
He asserted that restoring Judo to its former status as a Category A sport would be a hallmark of success during his tenure as minister.
Dr. Musa Oshodi, President of the Nigerian Judo Federation, expressed gratitude to Senator Enoh for gracing the event, underscoring his dedication to sports development.
He emphasized that the partnership between the federation and the military aims to elevate Judo’s prominence in Nigeria, paving the way for renewed glory in the sport.
