Permanent secretary in the ministry of sports, Adesola Olusade has stated delight at the performances of Team Nigeria at the ongoing Youth Olympic Games in Argentina.
With Nigeria winning gold and silver after just three days of the events in Buenos Aires, Olusade said it is very pleasant news for the country.
However, Olusade stated further in an interview with sports247.ng that he was not surprised because he remembers the orientation the athletes got from the ministry and sports experts before they traveled out for the country.
Olusade recalled: “I am happy what the news we are hearing about our youth winning medals at the Youth Olympics in Argentina, but I am not surprised.
“I am not surprised, because the athletes were charged up before they left to understand that they must not see them inferior to any opponent.
“They were told that, whatever medal that will be good for others to win should also be good for them as well.
“That’s why I believe that more medals can still be won by our athletes before the Games climax on the 18th of October.”
