Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for awarding the prestigious Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) national honour to members of Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National Team.
This recognition comes in light of the team’s outstanding performance at the recently concluded AFCON 2023 tournament held in Cote d’Ivoire.
Senator Enoh also extended appreciation to President Tinubu and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for generously gifting the players and officials with apartments and a plot of land each in the FCT.
In his statement, Senator Enoh emphasized that President Tinubu’s gesture underscores the nation’s deep appreciation for the tireless efforts and achievements of the Super Eagles.
He highlighted the team’s courageous display throughout the tournament, which not only brought pride and joy to Nigerians but also secured them a well-deserved place of honour in Nigerian sports history.
The Minister, accompanied by officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), had the honour of presenting the team to President Tinubu at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.
The reception, held on Tuesday morning, marked a momentous occasion as the nation collectively celebrated the achievements of the football heroes.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, commended the team, coach, crew, and management staff for their passion, perseverance, and resilience throughout the tournament.
