Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has urged Nigerian athletes participating in the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary, to strive for a podium finish.

He extended his felicitations to the athletes for their successful qualification for the global event.
In a personally signed message addressed to the athletes, Senator Enoh emphasized that their participation in the championship not only showcased their personal achievements but also highlighted the unity of the nation.
“Your participation in the World Athletics Championship not only represents personal accomplishments but also exemplifies the unity of our nation. You are the embodiment of our diversity, strength, and determination. As you stand side by side with athletes from around the world, remember that you carry the hopes and dreams of millions of Nigerians who believe in you and cheer for your success,” Senator Enoh said.
According to Mohammed Manga, the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, the Minister praised Nigerian athletes as a representation of the country’s diversity, strength, and determination.
He emphasized that the athletes carry the aspirations and dreams of millions of Nigerians who believe in their capabilities.
Commending the coaches, support staff, and technical officials for their relentless efforts in preparing the athletes for the competition, Senator Enoh said, “The dedication and expertise of our coaches have played an integral role in nurturing your talents, which have shaped you into world-class contenders.”
“While the eyes of the world are upon you, remember that you are not only competing for yourselves but for the pride of our nation. May your performances shine as bright as the Nigerian sun. On your return, we will celebrate your accomplishments and welcome you back to a heroic reception,” the Minister added.
While expressing his well-wishes, the Minister assured the athletes of the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his entire cabinet, and the entire nation.
He stated that the country stands united in its backing and admiration for the athletes.
