Babatunde obisanya has said that basic sports facilities should be made available at all level of government to encourage youths to be involved more in sports.
Answering questions on the FUBS Network, the table tennis enthusiast says young champs and children should have an early exposure to sports.
‘children and young ones should be exposed to variety of sporting activities early in life to allow them choose as it is in developed countries’.
Obisanya said government at all levels have the responsibility to make available sports facilities particularly table tennis across the country as the state sports council nurture talents by organizing competition.
‘each state sports council should in collaboration with philanthropist in their area organise competition to improve talents. Table tennis and other sports should be accessible to all citizen at all levels of government and the government must provide basic infrastructure’.
He further elucidated on the different age grades that competitions can be organized as he called for more table tennis league.
‘there are 3 or 4 categories, u-13, u-15, u-18 and of course, the open and senior 18 and above. Table tennis league is a must for the game’s development and this is what table tennis in Lagos was founded upon’.
