Sports Commissioner Tasks Ibom Angels Fc On Good Performance

Akwa Ibom State commissioner for youth and sports, Sir Monday Uko, has charged the management and players of Ibom Angels Football Club to work hard and be disciplined to make an impact in this season’s NWFL-Premiership campaign.

Sir Uko, who gave the charge during a meeting with the team, at the conference room of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday, advised them not to let anything distract them.

He called on the players to be focused and determined in all their dealings in order to achieve their target in the competition.

The Commissioner, who spoke through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, expressed displeasure over the loss of the team’s first game in the league last Wednesday against visiting Osun Babes Football Club, urging the management, technical crew, and the players to double up efforts in getting the team back to winning ways.

Elder Bassey, who also doubles as the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club expressed confidence in the team, adding that the team can get the needed results when both the management and the players get along well.

“The Commissioner was not happy with the result of the last game played last Wednesday, but he has advised me to inform you people to put that behind you, and to forge ahead to see that impossible is turned into a possibility. He said you people should be more determined and focused by not letting anything to be of distraction to the team, as all hands are on deck to give all the necessary support required to make sure that the team has a smooth and a successful season”.

Responding, the Chairman of the club, Mr.Moses Nana assured the Commissioner of the club readiness to return to winning ways.

He said every distraction has been put behind them to achieve in their next game this Wednesday.

Ibom Angels lost the week one game of the season to Osun Babes last Wednesday in Uyo.

The team will this Wednesday 16 November 2020, play against Pelican Stars of Calabar away in week two of the ongoing NWFL-Premiership.

Pelican Stars Fc on the other hand last Wednesday, lost to Abia Angels Fc by two goals to nil in Umuahia.

Present at the meeting were the director of sports in the ministry of youth and sports, Mr. Lawrence Iquaibom, and former Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Obong Isong Isang.
