Ahead of the upcoming football season, Sporting Lagos captain, Egoonu Patrick, has made a bold declaration of his commitment to the club and his determination to guide the team back to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
After a disappointing season that saw the club relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL), Patrick’s leadership and resolve are poised to play a pivotal role in the club’s campaign to reclaim its position in Nigeria’s top flight.
Reflecting on last season’s challenges, Patrick acknowledged the difficulties but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back stronger.
“It was a tough season for us, and getting relegated was a bitter pill to swallow,” he said. “But we’ve taken our lessons from it, and now, more than ever, I’m committed to ensuring we fight our way back to where we belong—the NPFL.”

Despite the setback, his resolve has only strengthened. “Football is about resilience and determination. We might have fallen, but we are not staying down. My focus is on rallying the boys, bringing the team together, and making sure that we work as a unit to achieve our goals this season,” Patrick stated.
The skipper also emphasized the importance of staying grounded and taking the season one match at a time.
“Our target is clear, but we must not get ahead of ourselves. Every game is a battle, and we need to approach it with the right mindset, discipline, and hard work. The NPFL is where we belong, and we will do everything in our power to get back there,” he affirmed.
