Young folks now have the opportunity of a life time to be world class handball referees as the South West Zonal Co-ordinator of the Handball Federation of Nigeria is holding a referee course for South-West states between 8th – 21st December, 2019 in Ibadan.
The course, sponsored by the HFN South zonal co-ordinator Mr. Sam Ocheho, who also is the HFN president, will hold at the indoor sports hall of the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan and it is strictly for candidates between the ages of 16 – 18 year old.
The training course, according to Comrade Moses Balogun, IHF Chief Referee for Nigeria and also acting Chairman, Playing Rules Commission of HFN, is organized to train young Handball wannabe Referees who want to take Handball Refereeing as a Professio in view of recruiting them so they can be CAHB and IHF certified refs.
Comrade Balogun also said the training will add to the Development of Handball Technically so that the young men and women can replace the aging referees.
For Sam Ocheho, the course is a timely one as it will help produce young and vibrant officials who will be able to help develop the sport in Nigeria.
“I am doing this for my constituency in my capacity as Southwest Coordinator.
The idea is to pick them young and see how we can follow global trend of training young players who can rise to global stage” he concluded
The training will commence on Sunday December 8 and end on Saturday December 21 2019
