Key midfielder and one of Banyana’s seasoned players, Nonhlanhla Mthandi, disclosed that the team is focused on an aggressive approach, aiming to score goals and secure maximum points from the match.
“We are working very hard in training, and we’ll do our best to win. We are okay in Nigeria, and I’m happy. We’ll have to work hard because they are good,” Mthandi affirmed.
Recognizing the quality of their Nigerian opponents, Mthandi emphasized the need for Banyana Banyana to leverage their strengths while maintaining high levels of fitness and technical proficiency.
“They are a good team; so we’ll have to use our strength as well as be technically good, and the fitness has to be high. We’ll work hard and do everything we can to try and beat Nigeria on Friday,” she added.
Mthandi further highlighted the significance of securing an away win in Abuja, noting that it would ease the pressure ahead of the second leg in South Africa. With their sights set on a return to the Olympics after missing out on the last edition in Tokyo, Banyana Banyana is determined to deliver a strong performance and secure a vital victory against Nigeria.
As they prepare to face their formidable opponents, South Africa’s Banyana Banyana remains focused and determined to execute their strategy effectively, aiming to emerge triumphant and take a significant step towards Olympic qualification.
