Nigeria’s Flying Eagles hopes of securing an automatic FIFA u-20 World Cup ticket after match day two of the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations was cut off for the time being as the team played out a goalless draw against South Africa’s Amajita at the Seyni Kountche stadium on Tuesday.
The Flying Eagles were poised for a World Cup ticket in Poland later in the year if they got a win against the South African team but were unable to break the solid defence organised by coach of the team Thabo Senong.
Nigeria defeated Burundi 2 – 0 in her opening game of the competition while South Africa’s Amajitas played a 1 – 1 draw against host Niger Republic in their first game.
Nigeria is currently top of the group A log on four points and will play host Niger republic in their last group match on Friday February 8 while South Africa will play Burundi on the same day to decide the two teams in the group to book the World Cup tickets.
With Nigeria almost poised to get a semi final ticket spot, South Africa will need a win in their final match to secure the ticket.
