Former Super Eagles midfielder, Omatsone Aluko (aka Sone) is already looking up to the first weekend of the English Premier League’s 2024/2025 season, as he is eager to play a key role in the coaching crew of newly promoted Ipswich Town.
Although The Tractor Boys will tango eternal title contenders, Liverpool, in their first match back among England’s elite clubs, Aluko believes his new team can ruffle a few feathers.
As he basks in the euphoria of his recent appointment as first team coach in the resurgent club that once had immediate past Super Eagles’ coach, Finidi George among their players, Aluko declared that he will give his very best to uplift the team.
Their first stiff test in the new season will be at home versus Liverpool, and it could jolly well turn out to be a victorious start if the words of Aluko are anything to go by.
This is sequel to a declaration by the 35-year-old well-travelled ex-international, who earlier played for both Nigeria and England at youth level, as he is determined to hit the ground running.
“It is a real privilege to start the next phase of my career by joining the first team coaching staff here.
“It is a great time to be st Ipswich, and I’m really looking forward to helping the squad continue to learn and take on the challenge of the Premier League.”
August 17th will become a reference point for Sone Aluko, as he will step out for the first time in the garb of a coach on the same terrain he previously toiled through as a player at variius points with Queens Park Rangers, Fulham, Hull City and Reading.
