Nigeria’s Azeez Solanke has expressed his delight after emerging as the Africa junior Table Tennis champion at the just concluded Africa junior Table Tennis championship in Ghana ending Egyptian domination of the tournament with a final victory over Egyptian Marwan Abdelwahab (13-11, 4-11, 10-12, 11-5, 13-11, 11-6) to secure the title.
Solanke speaking in a chat with Sports247 said it was a memorable and eventful tournament for him becoming the new king of Africa at the junior level especially as this was his last championship as a junior player.
“I am very happy to become the Africa junior Table Tennis champion most especially because I didn’t know I can win this competition but fortunately God said it’s mine.
“ I am very happy again because this is my last time of playing junior championship and I made the record to become Africa junior Table Tennis champion 2019.”
Azeez Solanke also picked up a doubles Gold alongside compatriot Jamiu Ayanwale and would now move to the senior cadre from next year.
