President of Smart City Football Club, Adeyinka Adeboye has expressed confidence that his team are poised to go far in this year’s National Challenge Cup, Aiteo FA Cup.
Adeboye said this after Lagos State Football Association, LSFA recently picked his team to represent the state in this year’s National Challenge Cup which kicks off next month.
The dark-skinned football administrator in a chat with our correspondent explained that his team have what it takes to go far in this year’s National Challenge Cup. He said his players are in a killer mood and the best form of their lives to go far in the annual tournament.
“ We are not afraid of big teams in the National Challenge Cup. The last time we represented Lagos, we reached the round of 16 at the national level and we beat the likes of Shooting Stars and Enyimba FC on our way to round of 16 so we can still repeat such feat in this year’s National Challenge Cup,” he said.
Adeboye said his team would continue to play top-friendly matches in preparation for the national challenge cup. He revealed that his players and coaching crew are well motivated and ready to give their best for the club.
Technical Director of the Club, Lookman Oshun also remained optimistic that Smart City FC would surprise many clubs. He said with the present crop of hungry players in the club, the team can go far and win the National Challenge Cup.
“We are positioned ourselves to win this year’s National Challenge Cup. We are aware of the task ahead but with the team’s preparation and players’ commitment, I am optimistic that we can go far and possibly win the tournament,” he said.
