Beyond the realm of competition, participants and spectators reveled in a relaxed atmosphere and a distinctive ambiance, creating an unforgettable experience.
The leaderboards unveiled Octagon TKD as the dominant force, securing an impressive tally of 26 medals—eight gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze.
Trailing closely, Eagle TKD from Abuja clinched second place with five gold, six silver, and 10 bronze medals. FCT exhibited prowess by securing two gold medals, while both Alamo TKD and Martial Arts each earned a silver medal.
However, Prestis TKD from Niger, the sole invited club, did not make an appearance on the medal table, showcasing the fierce competition and standard of the event.
In recognition of individual achievements, FCT’s Uneh Unique has crowned the woman athlete of the tournament, while the coveted men’s athlete of the tournament title was awarded to Jideofor Chukwumerije of Octagon TKD.
His electrifying performance in the finals, notably against Achu Franco of Alamo TKD and Martial Arts, earned him the distinction of a ‘fight of the tournament.’
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CCSF, Chika Chukwumerije, shared his thoughts on the event, stating, “What you might spend a substantial amount on for entertainment, we have chosen to provide you with even more at no cost.
Amidst the exciting vibes, Taekwondo Invitational Tournament attendees also relished delectable offerings like barbecues and other refreshments.”
With the resounding success witnessed in this edition, a larger and more expansive event is on the horizon.
A test run for the grander edition, scheduled for December 2023, this invitational tournament showcased 82 competitors competing across 15 categories, encompassing kiddies, cadets, and juniors’ levels.
The upcoming edition promises an even greater celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and the unique camaraderie that the Taekwondo community embodies.
