Sir Monday Uko Makes In-Person Visit To Ailing Former State Athlete In Abuja Hospital

Akwa Ibom State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, has paid a surprise solidarity visit to the ailing former Akwa Ibom State Athlete, David Etuk Akpan, at an Abuja hospital.

David, who won multiple medals for the State at various editions of the National Sports Festival during his heyday, is at present battling against Throat Tumor at the National Hospital, Abuja.

During an in-person visit to David, the Honorable Commissioner, who is bankrolling the entire medical expenses, prayed for the retired Athlete before wishing him a speedy recovery and making more cash and material donations.

While pledging the commitment of Akwa Ibom State Government to the total recovery of David, the Youth and Sports boss also mandated one of his aides to remain in Abuja to supervise the treatment process and report the same back to him on a daily basis.

In his response, David said that he was amazed at the level of love, care and support he has received from the Honorable Commissioner and noted that this was the first time a retired State Athlete would receive such high level of attention from Government.

He encouraged serving State Athletes to do all within their powers to bring glory to the State assuring that Government has their best interests in mind.

While in Abuja, David is expected to undergo Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy amongst other treatment processes.
