As the 6th editions of Aare Tomori Williams U-16 male and U-19 female football competitions are drawing nearer, the cup donor has admonished the participating teams to shun any form of social vices that tarnish the image of the competition.
The cup donor who doubles as Chief Executive Director of Tomori Construction Limited, Aare Tomori Williams disclosed this while chatting with Journalists in Lagos.
He urged the teams to see the competition as a friendly not a do or die affairs and shun any form of hooliganism during and after their matches.
“My advice for the participating teams is to play the game according to the rules and regulation. Our players, coaches and club owners should uphold our traditional core values such as discipline and honesty. Aside this, all the teams should show spirit of sportsmanship and they should not play the game with bitterness. I wish all the teams all the best in their outings,” he said.
Match coordinator, Lateef Ojora Ogunfowora explained that the competition has attracted teams from Ogun, Edo and Ogun states noted that arrangement have been concluded to stage a successful tournament.
“We are starting the competition next month at the Campos mini stadium. We have selected the teams and we have done the draws where teams would face one another in the home and away format. This year’s edition would be better organized because we have contacted certified referees that would officiate all the matches without fear or favour any team,” he said.
Some of the coaches who attended the draws ceremony said they have prepared for the competition and prayed for injury free for their players throughout the tournament.
A total of 26 teams would involve in the male category while 12 teams would tackle one another in the female category.
The opening match would be Yomaraz face Papa Soccer Academy in the male, while Young Talent 99 battle Unification Ladies in the female category.
