Showtime Summer Series 2025: LA Knights’ GM Katherine Showunmi Showers Praises On Her Team’s Coaches

The general manager of LA Knights FFC, Katherine Showunmi has reeled out words of praise to the team’s coaches for their ability to eke out victory in last weekend’s matchday two fixture of the 2025 Showtime Summer Series.

It turned out to be a very tight encounter between LA Knights and Raptors, with Showunmi’s side barely managing to snatch a 19-14 victory, and the eloquent GM admitted it was a close call for her team.

While praising LA Knights’ coaching crew for snatching victory from the brink of defeat, Katherine Showunmi also recognised the untiring efforts of their players, who she said always put in extra effort during training in order to excel in all their matches.

Showunmi further disclosed during an exclusive interview with Sports247 that her team was able to romp back and win Sunday’s clash with Raptors because LA Knights’ players never give up and they keep playing their hearts out all through the duration of any match they are involved in.

She added: “The secret of all this, I would say, has been applying pressure in each game, and we keep pushing. We keep on pushing, pushing, pushing … regardless of whether we are up or down.

“At some point during this game, we were down by one point, but we just kept on pushing. Our team has come together in a short period of time, but they have pushed and pushed to get on top.”

The articulate and smooth-talking GM then took a delighted look at the technical side of the team and eulogised the quartet of egg heads in their coaching crew for bringing out a winning formula that commences on the training ground before being executed during matches.

Showunmi revealed, “For every practice, they apply pressure, and they push one another to be the best. They challenge each other in the most inspirational way, and that’s why we have a great team. So, I’m very proud of them.

“I’m also proud of Coach Fagha, our head coach, and the other coaches … Temi, Dabo, and Santana. We have fantastic coaches who know the sport and they know their players. They know our team, they know the grass, the field, and they know everything about flag football. That’s what put us in the best position possible for these two games.”

Showunmi then provided a review of Sunday’s fixture, and though the amiable GM admitted it was a close call for her side, she stressed that victory was always on her mind, because she knows the quality that LA Knights has grown into under her watch.

She declared, “I knew we weren’t going to lose this game. I just knew it. Although we have lost to Raptors many times in the past, this is different. We are now a different team. This is a different LA … a whole new LA.

“We have a new GM, which is myself, and we have new players. We have new energy, we have a new feel, we are just different. I knew we weren’t going to come out of this game with a loss. I knew it was going to be a win for us.”

She concluded by giving plaudits to Raptors as well, but stressed that the winning mentality and technical depth that is now the core of LA Knights, plus sheer determination on the part of their players, will always stand them out.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game, because Raptors have a good team … they even beat Panthers last week. So, I knew they would give us a big push; but I also knew we were going to end it well. Though it looked bad for a couple of seconds, I knew we would pull through … I just knew it,” Showunmi affirmed.
