Despite suffering three consecutive defeats in the 2025 Showtime Flag Football League season, Off SZN Athletics co-owner Juanita Abii remains confident that her team will bounce back,Sports247 reports.
After a 55-7 loss to Greenbacks in Week 3, Abii reflected on her team’s performance and the challenges they’ve faced, which have made winning elusive.
“It was a very tense game for the players—and even for people in the stands,” Abii told Sports247.
“I think we need to figure out how to keep a calm head so we can play better.” She added.
The soft spoken administrator pointed to the team’s inexperience as a key factor in their current form, noting that they’ve only been together since last August.
“We’re a relatively new team, and we still have a lot to work on to reach the level we want,” Abii stated.
“We’re playing against seasoned teams that have been around for eight years.”
Despite the rough start, Abii is optimistic and believes the road to redemption begins with discipline, consistency, and hard work.
“We need more practice and more discipline,” she emphasized. “As a team, we’ve identified that we need to align on standards; showing up on time and practicing multiple times a week. That’s what we need to do, and do it strictly.”
Abii remains hopeful about the team’s development, saying, “Compared to last season, we’ve definitely improved. It’s just going to keep getting better from here.”
The Showtime Flag Football League continues this Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Showtime Arena in Lekki, where Off SZN Athletics will have another chance to turn their season around and secure their long-awaited first win.
