LA Knights’ wide centre, Kayode Ogundele has blown the lid off the strategy that accounted for his side’s shock victory over Warriors’ team in their first match of the Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL) 2025 season, Sports247 reports.
Ogundele admitted that Warriors are a very formidable side, so his team had to prepare very well and play with sheer determination in order to overcome the defending champions on the opening day of the new season at Showtime Arena in Lekki, Lagos.
He told Sports247 in an exclusive chat, “We were fully prepared for this game. We knew it was going to be a tough game, because Warriors are a tough team; but we were fully prepared for it.”
Ogundele further disclosed that LA (Lagos Athletics) Knights built their strategy against the backdrop of what they saw the Warriors do last season, and advised other teams to study the video playback of Sunday’s match in order to learn new tactics that can further help them stop the holders.
“We planned our strategy based on their performance of last season. They were very strong and even went unbeaten throughout the season. So, we were prepared for this game, and our strategy worked … that’s why we won.
“Now we have nine more weeks to go, which is still a long way away. So, other teams can watch from our tape, see what we did, and then try and lock in their own defence. That’s because defence won this game for us,” recounted Ogundele, who also disclosed that some of his friends introduced him to flag football two years ago
