Showtime Flag Football League 2025: LA Knights’ Cindy Cherishes NFFF’s Efforts In Creating Awareness

A major player in the historic squad of LA Knights, Cynthia Uzoma (Cindy) has praised the role being played by an association called NFFF in creating an expanded level of awareness for this year’s edition of Showtime Flag Football League, Sports247 reports.

Though ‘Cindy’ admitted that the sport still needs more awareness among the larger population of fans, she hailed a huge impact that is being made through the efforts of Nigeria Flag Football Federation (NFFF).

‘Cindy’ added that the association, which was co-founded in 2019 by Babajide Akeredolu, Seye Obatolu, Lawrence Ojaideh (the current secretary) and their German colleague, Dominick Mueller, has taken major steps forward in building more awareness for the sport.

She equally expressed delight with her team’s ability to begin the new contest on a winning note by silencing top-favourites, Warriors in Sunday’s opening match of the 2025 SFFL season, which she described as an exciting start for LA Knights.

The former Russia-based ace told Sports247, “It was exciting, exhilarating, and the vibration was just very high. We were all excited to play and, from the get-go, we started pushing each other forward. We put in lots of energy and boosted our egos, so that we could play better.

“From start to finish, the energy did not go down for a second. The character we are putting into this season is to dominate … with humility, of course.”

The smooth-talking and highly eloquent lass also spoke about the strategy which LA Knights will employ in their subsequent games of the season, as they keep their eyes focused on a place in the 2025 Showtime Bowl on June 1st.

She added, “We want to keep ourselves really locked in for every game, regardless of whoever we are playing against. That’s basically what we are going to do from the beginning to end.”

‘Cindy’ concluded by revealing her love for the sport and expressed hope for its advancement in Nigeria, especially with the efforts of NFFF, which is the country’s affiliate member of International Federation of American Football (IFAF).

“Personally, I am two years old in flag football. Ever since I started playing flag football, especially in Russia, it has become a second love of my life … my first love being God, of course. It’s been good, it’s been great, and I thank God for it.

“Moving forward, I’ll be satisfied if people are more aware of the sport. To be honest, a lot of people are not yet aware of this sport, as much as I would like. But this year, especially with NAFA coming into the play, it’s been impressive.

“I’m now becoming satisfied with the awareness that flag football is getting. Hopefully, it will get more awareness from the people who know about it and it could become as popular as soccer.”
