SHOWTIME FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2025: Ifeoluwa Egbetunde Targets Sixty Points, After Helping Ikan Sports Beat Lagos Alpha 54-6

One of the sensational performers in a record setting victory for Ikan Sports, Ifeoluwa Egbetunde is relishing her side’s 54-6 win over Lagos Alpha in their second match of this season’s Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL), but believes it would have been better had they hit 60 points in the game.

It was a historic end to last Sunday’s four-game fixtures in week two of the 2025 SFFL season, with the venue’s biggest scoreline marking a huge climax as the sun went down on the Lekki skyline in Lagos.

However, while admitting that the result was stunning and a delight to behold by the spectators, Egbetunde confessed that she wanted to be like Oliver Twist and seek my points in the game.

Egbetunde stated as much in a hearty chat with Sports247, as she declared: “The start was not bad, and the ending not bad as well; but I wanted more. We could have rounded up the scoreline to 60 points. All the same, what we got is good. We executed a good game plan, no dropping points carelessly, and we played to instruction.”

She then revealed a very motivational and creative catchphrase that puts the squad in the right frame for victory, as she says they enter every game with a high level of determination not to go home empty-handed.

Egbetunde added, “We have to go hard to win all our games. It’s either we go hard or we go home. But we’ve told ourselves that we are not going home empty. So, we will work hard to win each game.

We are going for winning ways every day. We are not afraid of any team, and we are ready to play all of them on the queue. Okay, we admit, they are tough teams, but we have to go head-to-head with all of them, and we are ready.”

She concluded by declaring her personal target to win this season’s SFFL title with Ikan Sports, as she wants to justify her decision to change from basketball and football less than two years ago.

“I really want to play, and I want to win. Thanks to God that I am here. It was an invite from a friend about two years ago or less. I used to be in basketball and football, but I love this sport. So, I don’t regret my decision to take it up. In fact, I never regret anything I do,” Egbetunde philosophised.
