LA Knights’ rusher, Cynthia Uzoma has come out with a down-to-earth confession that she was not satisfied with her side’s 19-14 victory over Raptors during the WEEK 2 of action in this year’s Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL).
Speaking in the wake of the tight game she and her colleagues endured at the Showtime Arena in Lekki area of Lagos, Uzoma admitted it was a relief that they got a win for the second straight weekend, but reckoned that they have to work harder in order to get a better result next time out.

She told Sports247: “To be honest, personally, I’m not happy. I felt like, and I still feel like, we should have done more. But we did not start well because, at first, everyone was sleeping … both the offensive and defensive sides; and vice versa.”
Uzoma noted further that the rhythm had already gone out of her team’s progress in the game, such that the players could not muster the desired tempo they needed in order to get a wider win margin against the less fancied Raptors.
She continued, “We eventually had to up our game at half time, but I don’t know what happened to us. We just could not get it right. I am not happy, I’m really disappointed … but I hope we will do better next time. We’ll have to get it right from our next training session.”
The ebullient rusher, who was one of the stars to behold in the first match of week two last Sunday, then gave an insight into the approach LA Knights will adopt for their next game, and stressed that they must go all out for a wide margin scoreline.
Uzoma projected, “We are going to drill ourselves so freaking hard … harder than we ever did. We can not be playing like this. We just have to do better next week. I believe, though, that we’ll dominate next week, because we’ll step up our efforts.
“Although we came into this game with a mind of dominating, and we actually held the defensive side down, we just didn’t get everything right overall. Though we were strong in the defensive area, and we gave the offensive side more opportunities to score, things just didn’t click for us.”
She concluded with a view that her side will also have to work on physical aspects of the game, as she recalled how Raptors’ hard tackling approach and rough tactics forced her side into making unwanted changes due to injuries.
“We kept getting penalties, and the opponents kept on having a P.I. They even gave our quarterback pass interference, almost injuring him in the process. They hurt his arm and his shoulder … it was crazy. We just had to play it that way. To God be the glory, we still won … but the margin was too small,” Uzoma ended.
