Spartans flag football team’s wide receiver, Nedy Udombat says he is deeply excited with his side’s conquest of this year’s Showtime Bowl Series, but still gave full credit to their opponents, Lagos Warriors for putting up a gallant fight.

Udombat admitted in a chat with sports247.ng that Sunday’s final at Meadow Hall in the Lekki area of Lagos State was not easy, and he heaved a sigh of relief that all their efforts eventually paid off.
Udombat said, “This victory means a lot to us, because so many different people in our team have been suffering too much.
“We didn’t start the season well, but we kept pushing through. Despite all the losses, we kept on pushing to scale through.
“It just shows that you can’t give up once you know what you want and where you are going.”
He then unfolded details of the strategies and factors that eventually saw Spartans emerge tops among all 12 teams that competed in season two of the championship that is officially known as Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL).
Udombat continued, “In a game like this, we never underestimate our opponents.
“We give our opponents full credit, but we have to focus on our game.
“What we did was to focus on the minor details. We faced the fundamentals through and through.
“Monday to Saturday, we faced the fundamentals, and we just had to play well with one another till the final whistle.”
The fast-talking lad then spoke about his next focus, even as he reckoned that experiences he and his teammates gained from this year’s competition will come in handy for their future exertions.
“Every season, we have a new target. All we have to do is play to win. When you play good football, you weigh your opponents out.
“Warriors are one of the best teams in this league, in my opinion. So, we had to do something extra to beat them.
“When we come out here to deliver like this, we know people are going to watch us and talk about it.
“So, play to win is what we had to do, and that’s what we will continue to do in subsequent games,” Udombat projected.
