The resounding victory, witnessed by an electrifying crowd at Ibadan’s Lekan Salami Sports Complex, moved the Oluyole Warriors to 10th position in the league standings.
From the first whistle, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s team showed their hunger for redemption, quickly taking control of the match with sustained pressure on the visitors’ defense.
Their efforts paid off in the 26th minute when Samuel Ayanrinde scored the opener, heading in a precise cross from Gideon Monday.
Buoyed by their enthusiastic fans, 3SC doubled their lead 11 minutes later. This time, Aliyu Abubakar struck from a tight angle, catching El-Kanemi’s defense off guard and ensuring the home team went into halftime with a commanding 2-0 advantage.
In the second half, Coach Ogunbote made a tactical substitution, introducing Mustapha Adams for Ayanrinde, a move that proved fruitful almost immediately. In the 62nd minute, Adams extended the lead, delivering a left-footed shot that slipped past the Warriors’ goalkeeper, solidifying 3SC’s dominance with a third goal.
El-Kanemi Warriors tried to assert themselves with some skilled ball distribution but failed to make any serious impact on 3SC’s resolute defense, led by Gali Falke, Muritala Taiye, Desmond Ojietefian, and Alex Aghahowa. Goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal remained largely untroubled, recording a clean sheet to cap off a comprehensive team performance.
The victory raises Shooting Stars’ season tally to 15 points from 11 games, injecting renewed momentum as they prepare for a highly anticipated South-West derby against Ikorodu City in Lagos this coming weekend.
“We played with passion and discipline,” said Ogunbote. “The lads delivered today, and we’re ready for the derby challenge ahead.”
