Shooting Stars Make Olubadan Cup History

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Sunday, emerged the champions of the 2020 edition of the Olubadan Cup.

Fresh from their successful defence of the Dapo Abiodun Pre-season tournament in Ijebh-Ode, the Oluyole Warriors beat hard fighting Ogbomoso United 2-0 in the final decision at the Olubadan Stadium.

One goal in each half by central defenders, Abbey Benson and Elum Henry were all the Ibadan soccer lords needed to grab the trophy, thus becoming the first team in history to achieve that feat.

Benson, who scored two goals in the Dapo Abiodun Preseason tourney, converted a well-taken free-kick midway into the first half, while Elum nodded home a pull out to double the Stars’ lead three minutes into the second half.

The Oluyole Warriors were champions in 2004 and 2006.

The Ogbomoso based side had their goalkeeper to thank as the goalie made some superlative saves to save his team from a heavy defeat in the encounter dominated by 3SC.
