As part of their preparation for the 2024/25 season, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan will participate in the prestigious Coal City Cup 2024 Tournament in Enugu.
This exciting pre-season event, featuring eight teams, is set to commence on Thursday, August 1.
The tournament, tagged the Coal City Cup 2024, will see the Ibadan soccer lords joined by notable clubs such as Rangers International, Enyimba FC, and Remo Stars. Additionally, four international teams—FC Kallon from Sierra Leone, Cotton FC from Benin Republic, Gor Mahia from Kenya, and the renowned Brazilian side, Corinthians—will also compete, making this a truly diverse and competitive event.
The Oluyole Warriors are scheduled to face FC Kallon in the tournament’s opening match, which will kick off at 5 PM at the iconic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, affectionately known as ‘The Cathedral’.
Tosin Omojola, Media Officer of 3SC, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, saying, “We are fully prepared for this tournament. Our recent participation in the ValueJet Cup at the Remo Stars’ Stadium in Ikenne has sharpened our skills and boosted our team spirit. We are excited to showcase our talent and compete at the highest level.”
The Coal City Cup offers 3SC an excellent opportunity to test their mettle against both domestic and international opponents, providing a robust challenge ahead of the official season.
