The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has expressed his full support and confidence in the appointment of Hon. Bukola Olopade as the new Director-General and Secretary of the NSC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Dikko praised Olopade’s appointment as a strategic decision that will bring significant value to Nigerian sports.
He highlighted Olopade’s vast experience and dynamic energy as key assets that would drive innovation within the Commission. “Hon. Olopade’s appointment will usher in additional value and innovation for Nigerian sports,” Dikko remarked.
The Presidency officially announced Olopade’s appointment on Thursday, underlining his distinguished career in sports administration. In addition to his new role, Olopade also serves as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State in January 2025.
With a proven track record as a two-term Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State, along with vast private sector experience, Olopade is well-positioned to contribute to the growth of sports in Nigeria.
Dikko expressed confidence in Olopade’s ability to work collaboratively with him and other stakeholders to advance the Commission’s goals. He described Olopade as a long-time friend and brother, with whom he shares a mutual vision for the betterment of Nigerian sports.
“This is the best time for Nigerian sports to move forward under the framework of the Renewed Hope agenda,” Dikko stated.
He concluded by urging all stakeholders to appreciate and congratulate President Tinubu for appointing two like-minded individuals—himself and Olopade—to lead the charge in transforming Nigerian sports.
