Four-time African women player of the year award winner, Perpetua Nwokcha hailed her compatriot, Asisat Oshoala on her record fifth women’s player of the year award while also revealing that she deserves it more than anyone else.
Nwokcha who is the holder of the most goal scored in a single tournament won back-to-back awards in 2004 and 2005 before repeating the feat in 2010 and 2011.
Speaking to CAF online, Nwokcha revealed her excitement for her fellow countryman, “I am very happy for Asisat. She deserves this and more. She is still young. She should keep up the hard work and she will continue dominating.”
“There is a lot more from where this came from. She is doing amazing for Nigeria and Barcelona. All she needs to do is continue putting in the hard work.”
It will be notably recalled that the 46-yr old goal poacher played in seven editions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) winning five titles with the Super Falcons before her retirement.
