Edo State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has charged Edo Queens players to increase their goal-scoring prowess in the ongoing NWFL matches.
He gave this advice when he visited the players on Monday Evening in their camp in Benin-City.
He congratulated the Rollanson Odeh- led the squad for maintaining their unbeaten run in the ongoing Women Football League NWFL premiership.
“I’m here this evening to congratulate you girls for your performances this far, and also to let you know that a lot is at stake. You will observe that in your last home match against Nasarawa Amazons, I was away on a State assignment, I wanted to watch the game and I expected you will beat Nasarawa Amazons with nothing less than 3-0, but the match ended 1-0 in favor of us. I want you girls to understand that the game of football is about goals, so for us to be up there, we need to improve on our goal-scoring ability. I have watch you play, you have very solid defense, the mid-field is equally good, so the strikers must do their job. They have to work harder up there to do the finishing.”
“Again you should know that all eyes are on Edo Queens FC to deliver, remember that we have a target, and we must not allow those other clubs to deny us of our dreams. I would be personally happy and proud to hear that Edo Queens players are signing big football contract abroad. So for us to get there, everybody has a role to play, we must bring back that spirit of winning in our team, we must improve on our records, also try as much as possible to cancel those two draws that we have had in our records. We must play very well to win all our matches both home and away.”
“I do know that Edo Queens has all it takes to best any side whether home or away. I urge you to approach every game with vigor and a mindset of victory always. You are very lucky to have a deputy Governor who knows what sports are about. I have promised to give you all the supports you needed to make you excel and be one of the best female club in the world not minding our clour or race or environment. I’m convinced within me that Edo Queens players can beat any other female clubs in Nigeria. And Everywhere I go, people do tell me about Edo Queens.”
Meanwhile Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu in his usual magnanimous spirit, officially announced an increment in the players welfare package with immediate effect. So in Edo Queens FC, it is harvest time for players, officials, and backroom staff.
Responding, the technical Manager of the Benin based side Rollanson Odeh, commended the Deputy Governor for his love, care, concern, support, and commitments. He promised that by the special Grace of God that Edo Queens FC will not disappoint him and the entire people of Edo State, describing him as a God-sent person to Edo State.
