SFF League Week 2: “We Will Improve and Win” – Greenbacks Coach Pelumi Adesina Commits to Improvement Following Loss to Panthers

Pelumi Adesina, quarterback and coach of the Greenbacks, has vowed to refine his team’s performance following their 21-32 defeat to the Panthers in Week 2 of the Showtime Flag Football season. Despite the loss, Adesina remains optimistic about the team’s progress and long-term development.

Speaking in an interview with Sports247, he acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the sport, stating,

“We won our game last week, but it shows how dynamic football is. It’s a win-and-lose situation, and with a long season ahead, what matters most is that our team members improve every week.”

Adesina attributed the defeat to the Panthers’ superior competitive edge, noting,

“The other team came to play. We came to play. It’s not just about the number of players or raw talent; it’s about competing in all aspects of the game. They outcompeted us, and that’s the simple truth.”

He also highlighted the team’s lack of cohesion, which he believes played a significant role in the outcome of the match.

“Synergy among team members is crucial in any sport. Today, our lack of it was evident on the field. But as they say in Nigeria, ‘Na from clap them dey enter dance.’ We will go back to the drawing board, fix our issues, and work on building that cohesion.”

On his personal pre-game routine, Adesina shared that hydration, stretching, and listening to music are key components of his physical and mental preparation.

Looking ahead to the team’s next match, he expressed confidence in their ability to bounce back.

“For next week, we will improve in every area—offense, defense, and team character—and win.”

With a clear focus on strengthening team chemistry and performance, Adesina remains determined to guide the Greenbacks toward success in the ongoing Showtime Flag Football season.
