Adewale Yusuf, quarterback of the Panthers, expressed his excitement after leading his team to a 32-21 comeback victory over Greenbacks in Week 2 of the Showtime Flag Football season. The Panthers initially trailed 6-0 but rallied to take control of the game and secure the win.
Reflecting on the match, Yusuf admitted feeling uneasy at the start but credited the team’s determination for their turnaround. “It was challenging. At the start, I was scared, but all glory to God, we got back into the game, and we gave them what they wanted.”

The Panthers’ game plan was focused on steady progress rather than immediate touchdowns. “Our game plan was just to get the first down. Once we get the first down, we move to the next down. We don’t plan the game like we have to score a touchdown immediately. We take it one step at a time.”
One of the most crucial moments in the game, according to Yusuf, came in the fourth down when the team was trailing by eight points. “I had to score a touchdown. That was my crucial moment, and we made it through. We scored and brought the team back into the game.”
Yusuf also emphasized the strong bond among teammates, stating that mutual support played a key role in their victory. “We don’t let anyone lose their cool. We support each other on every play, whether it’s an interception or a mistake. If we let one bad play affect us, we lose the game. So we keep playing hard until the last second.”
After losing their week 1 match, the Panthers were determined to bounce back. “We lost last week, so we came here hard.”
Looking ahead, Yusuf has one clear goal: “I want to win the championship. It’s not just about the offense; the offense wins the game, but the defense wins the championship.”
With this mindset, the Panthers will aim to build on their momentum as the Showtime Flag Football season progresses.
