Chidi Harmony once more stole the day and demonstrated the reason many in the football world regarded her as the hottest player in women’s football in the country when she came in as a second-half substitute to score a brace in Imo Strikers 5-0 victory over Awka Angels in the ongoing South East Women Football League in Owerri.

The player who has remained a defender’s nightmare since she burst into the national football scene last year, came in the second half and motivated her team who were one goal up in the first half to end the game on a high.
Oscar Precious scored the first goal of the game for the National second-tier league side in the 27th minute before Oparanmegwa Pattra made it two in the 47 minutes, with Harmony hitting the back of the net in the 52nd and 79th minutes while Ezeka Miracle scored in the 68th minutes to hand victory to the Coach Nelly Olisakwe side. In the first game of the day, GP World defeated Maureen Madu FA by 2-1
The second day of the competition will see Giant Empress take on Green Foot FC by 10 am while Heartland Queens trade tackles with GP World by 12pm and Solo Wonders face Imo Strikers Queens for the last game of the day.
The highlight of the first game was the ceremonial kick-off by the Commissioner of Sports representative Mr Victor Ezuruike and the presence of the highest capped Nigerian women’s footballer and former Super Falcons Coach, Maureen Madu, and Vice Chairman Imo State Football Association, Barrister Ifeanyi Dike.
Meanwhile, the players of Imo Strikers Queens used the opportunity provided by the competition to wish their coach, Nelly Olisakwe a happy birthday celebration before the game.
