Sevilla has officially registered Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho for the current La Liga season, following a brief delay due to financial regulations.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla this summer after his contract with Leicester City expired, and he made his debut for the club in a 4-1 loss to Liverpool two weeks ago.
Despite his debut, Iheanacho was unable to participate in Sevilla’s La Liga opener against Las Palmas last week, as the club had not yet registered him due to La Liga’s stringent financial rules.
The situation left the striker sidelined, awaiting clearance to play in the domestic competition.
However, on Tuesday, Sevilla managed to resolve the registration issue after Argentina defender Marcos Acuna departed for River Plate. Acuna’s transfer provided the necessary financial leeway for Sevilla to meet La Liga’s requirements.
In a new development on Wednesday, Spanish journalist Gonzalo Tortosa confirmed that Iheanacho has now been officially registered for La Liga, making him eligible to participate in upcoming matches for Sevilla.
This registration marks a crucial step for both the player and the club as they aim to strengthen their squad for the ongoing season.
With Iheanacho now fully registered, Sevilla will look to integrate the Nigerian forward into their La Liga campaign as they strive for success in both domestic and European competitions.
