Sevilla FC has secured the services of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke on a free transfer, adding depth and flair to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The 26-year-old has penned a three-year contract, tying him to the Andalusian club until June 2027, following the expiration of his contract with CSKA Moscow.
Ejuke, known for his agility and attacking prowess, arrives at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium after a fruitful loan spell at Belgian champions Royal Antwerp, where he notched up 5 goals and 6 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. His versatility allows him to play primarily as a left winger but also on the right and in advanced attacking roles.
Born on January 2, 1998, in Zaria, Nigeria, Ejuke stands 176 centimeters tall and favors his right foot. He began his European career with Norwegian side Valerenga in 2017 before moving to Dutch club Heerenveen, where he caught the attention of CSKA Moscow with an impressive tally of 10 goals and 6 assists in the 2019/20 season.
During his two-year stint in Moscow, Chidera Ejuke added another 10 goals and 8 assists to his name, along with making his debut in European competition, featuring five times in the UEFA Europa League. He also spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga, gaining valuable experience in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Chidera Ejuke is also a Nigerian international with 8 caps, having made his senior debut in 2020. His arrival at Sevilla is expected to boost their attacking options as they aim for a strong campaign and a return to European competitions under head coach García Pimienta.
In their official announcement, Sevilla welcomed Ejuke, highlighting his potential to make a significant impact in their quest for success this season.
