The Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) has appointed the Honourable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa as one of its patrons, while Chairman House Committee on Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon. Moshood Olarenwaju Oshun, and Member representing Surulere Constituency Hon. Desmond Olusola Elliot have been appointed ambassador.
The appointment was announced by the President of SESC, Prince Vincent Okumagba, when a delegation led by Blessing Nwanolue, who is the Welfare Officer, together with the National Executives and members of the club paid the Honourable Speaker, Mudashiru Ajayi a courtesy visit at the complex of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Mr Olisemeka Obi said;
Hon Obasa was found qualified to be a patron due to his selfless service to humanity and his input in the development of Lagos State and the nation at large.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Obasa said he was happy to be found worthy to be a patron of the Super Eagles Supporters Club.
” You have so many persons you would have chosen from. I want to thank you and I am highly honoured that you have found me worthy to be your patron.
“We have seen sport as a tool we can build on as a government to boost the economy and in achieving that, there is no way we can undermine you people that give support to our athletes and I want to encourage you to continue to do more.
“I thank you for your patriotism, loyalty and we will do everything in our power to support you”.
The delegation to the Lagos State House of Assembly had Mr Happy Ehiedu (Chief Whip), Chief Dr Ejiro Okuarame, Alao Jimoh & Hajia Magaji.
Ahead of the Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos, the Super Eagles Supporters Club has finalised plans to make the event a colourful one.
Meanwhile, the club has since started preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon and is also looking forward to the World Cup Qualifiers that will start later this year.
