This marked the Nigerian striker’s first league goal in nearly 18 months, a long-awaited moment for both him and Boro fans.

Oxford United took the lead seven minutes before halftime through Michal Helik, putting Middlesbrough on the back foot. However, just three minutes into the second half, Iheanacho responded with a powerful finish, leveling the score and reigniting his confidence.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Brazilian defender Neto Borges sealed the victory with his first goal for Boro, ensuring all three points stayed at the Riverside.

The win propels Middlesbrough to seventh place in the Championship standings, level on points with sixth-placed West Brom, with just seven matches left in the season.

Iheanacho’s return to the scoresheet is a massive boost for both him and Michael Carrick’s team as they push for a playoff spot.

Boro fans will be hoping this is just the start of a goal-scoring run for their new frontman.
