Senator Enoh Urges Falconets To Make History as Team Departs For Final World Cup Preparations In Colombia

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has issued a rallying call to Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, as they depart for Bogota, Colombia, for their final phase of preparations ahead of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

With the tournament set to kick off on August 31, the Falconets are poised to showcase their talent on the world stage once again.

Having earned their place in the prestigious tournament through a series of outstanding performances in the qualifiers, the Falconets, under the guidance of Head Coach Christopher Musa Danjuma, have their sights set on making history.

As two-time finalists in the competition, the team is determined to go all the way this time and bring the coveted trophy home to Nigeria.

In his message to the team, Senator Enoh expressed his confidence in their ability to surpass the achievements of their predecessors. “Your predecessors have done well reaching the final of the competition on two occasions and making the semifinals once. It is now time for you to take our country further by winning the trophy,” he said, emphasizing the nation’s belief in the team’s potential.

“The Government and the people of this great country are with you, and I am confident that you will not disappoint,” Senator Enoh added, underscoring the support and expectations of millions of Nigerians.

Following weeks of intensive training at the National Stadium in Abuja, the Falconets will now embark on a two-week training camp in Bogota. This final preparation phase is critical as the team refines its strategies and builds momentum ahead of the competition. Senator Enoh also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its seamless planning of the team’s training camp in Colombia.

Drawn in Group D, alongside formidable opponents such as Korea Republic, Germany, and Venezuela, the Falconets are well aware of the challenges ahead. However, with determination and national pride fueling their efforts, they aim to make a deep run in the tournament and add another glorious chapter to Nigeria’s rich history in women’s football.
