Rotherham United of England defender, Semi Ajayi has pledged his long-term future to the lower division club, as he says he wants to remain loyal to the team that gave him a breakthrough.
Rather than bank on his national team status with the Super Eagles to get a fat deal elsewhere, Ajayi said he remains committed to the lower division side and vowed to help them climb higher.
Sports247.ng gathered further that Ajayi is not thinking of leaving the English Championship outfit soon, and stressed that his priority for now is to help the club escape relegation.
With 18 months left on his contract with The Millers, speculation is on already that may not sign an extension and opt to move on, but Ajayi insists he is not thinking of leaving in a hurry.
The lanky defender, who once captained Arsenal under-23 team and had a loan spell at Cardiff City, stressed that he owes a lot in his career to The Millers, for which he wants to play more years to come.
Ajayi added: ”I definitely see Rotherham as my long-term home. This is the club that gave me my opportunity two years ago.
“They showed even more faith in me by offering me a permanent deal after my loan spell from Cardiff City.
”We got promotion from League One and now I’m playing again in the Championship which has led to an international call-up. I owe a lot to Rotherham and I’m happy to be here.”
