A philanthropist and business guru, Seyi allayed that the Seamoriow Sports Limited is a project that isn’t oriented on profit making but one which gives to the society, giving young talents platform to groom their potentials and develop to the highest peak of their dreams in football.
Right after the finals of the Seamoriow Sports U20 Super 8 tournament where his team, Seamoriow FC were crowned champions after a nervy 2-1 win against Supreme God House Sports Academy, Sports247.ng caught up with the astute sports lover as he shares the thrill of the moment, what the victory means to him and plans for continuity.
“I am so happy because when you see people beaming with happiness, smiles because you have done something to that society, then you reciprocate to that gesture by being happy so I’m so happy that this is happening right in front of our eyes,” he stated in much delight.
‘This is what I budgeted for, this is what I planned for, this is what I wanted from the very beginning, to put smile on people faces and I thank God that I have been able to achieve that today.”
“This final is a very good one, a display of exceptional talents and you could see how the boys were playing, they gave their best and I’m happy that everybody is happy at the end,” he added.
In making succinct explaination on what gave birth to the sports tournament initiative for all age grade, he said;
“I have always been a passionate footballer in my playing days and I love football. Football is like everything to me and any opportunity that I have, I want to see people playing it and enjoy it to the fullest even if I cannot play again now and that’s what gave birth to this initiative of having Seamoriow Sports Limited sponsoring teams.”
‘It’s a CSR, it’s not a profit making venture. I just want to give back to the society, I love football and I love boys to properly develop, to have their ambition alive, aim and hope restored and that’s what I love doing and will continue to do,” he further emphasized.
With plans in place to keep doing more of such tournaments, Seamoriow as fondly called allayed that there will be more teams coming in for the next edition.
“This competition has come to stay, in the next month or two, we should be having a repeat of the maiden edition we had before and that’s the first inaugural one of the U-15, the age grade tournament and we are going to have it in the next month or two and it will be repeated every year.”
“While we had eight teams on this U-20 competition is because we want the very best, we want teams that have structure. What we are trying to do now is that teams that do not participate here now will put their homes together because if you have structure and you know what you are doing, we will definitely invite you for the tournament,” he clarified on teams fit to participate in upcoming edition.
Speaking on what his fulfilment will be at the long run: “the only thing that will give fulfillment is to see any of these players that have played on this pitch to see them get to the very height in football.”
“See them in the national team, Europe, Nigerian leagues and anywhere in the world where football is being played that I can easily identify with them that this is one of the players that participated in one of our competitions.”
Government intervention: “We will give kudos to the government, we can’t say they haven’t tried. At least, the road that lead down here is under construction so I want to enjoin everybody to do their best.”
“In a more saner society, government will play their part and everyone is playing their part while I’m playing my part, I do hope that government play their part as well.”
On his team been crowned champions:
“I’m so happy, this is the first time that I’m fielding a team in the competition that I’m hosting and we were able to win the tournament.”
“Fair play, no bias, well disciplined and there’s no iota that my team must win. They did their best and they earned the victory, they weren’t given,” he concluded.
