As we countdown to the 2034 FIFA World Cup, Saudi Arabia has unveiled a plan to build a 46,000-seat stadium which will hang on a cliff, more than 1,150 feet above the ground in the planned Saudi Mega City, NEOM www.sports247.ng reports.
This was contained in their official bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which was presented to FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday at the Paris Olympics.
According to the bid a total of 15 Stadium will host the games of which 11 of the stadiums will be newly built.
Five cities, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and Neom will host the matches with eight of the stadiums to be situated in the Capital Riyadh.
“We aim to provide a diverse tourism, cultural, and sport experience in a great historical and civilizational heritage,” the crown prince, wrote in the foreword to the 250-page bid document.
The proposal is expected to cost several billion of dollars, and is waiting for FIFA’s approval when the football governing will meet on December 11 at a meeting of its 211 member federations to determine the fate of the audacious bid which forms a part of the Saudi 2030 vision.
