Samuel Kalu Regrets Red Card In French Ligue 1

Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu has disclosed his deep level of regrets, over the red card he got Tuesday night’s in his side’s French Ligue 1 loss to Olympique Marseille.

Sports247.ng reports that, while Kalu got the marching order 25 minutes into the game, 19-year-old Boubacar Kamara scored the only goal of the match that sent the Super Eagles star into floods of tears.

In contrast with Kalu’s agony, Kamara settled the game with a 42nd-minute header, which was his first senior goal, earning the hosts a win against 10-man Bordeaux to maintain their hopes of a European ticket.

Rudi Garcia’s side now sit seventh in Ligue 1 as a result of the 1-0 victory at Stade Velodrome and just three points behind Saint-Etienne in fourth.

Having lost their last two outings, Marseille went out like a house on fire, but Lucas Ocampos had an early chance saved before Kalu was sent off for a challenge on the Argentinian forward.

Marseille then took advantage of their numerical advantage and went in ahead at the break through Kamara’s header.
Morgan Sanson hit the post before the interval but Marseille failed to add to their lead, yet Garcia will be pleased to get back to winning ways.

Kalu, who got his 18th Ligue 1 appearance at Stade Velodrome, caught Ocampos in the shin with a badly-timed tackle that took the Marseille player flying off the ground, and the ref issued a straight red card.

It means Kalu may now end up missing Bordeaux’s next league match away to Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes, unless his club launch an appeal against the former KAA Gent of Belgium star’s sending off.

However, Bordeaux’s coach, Eric Bedouet said Kalu committed the clumpsy tackle only because he slipped and ran into the opponent.
Bedouet expatiated: ”I think he slipped, he arrived quickly and could not control his movement. We should not do this, but it might happen.”
