Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu has said that he hopes to retain his place in Nigeria’s starting XI when the Super Eagles face Libya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Uyo on Saturday.
The former KAA Gent youngster who had a lively debut for the Super Eagles in the 3-0 win over Seychelles is now hungry for more.
He told Sports247.ng: “Have I helped my chances of playing on Saturday? As a winger you want to play and get your teammates in scoring positions and score goals.
“I’ve always been the same, when you get given an opportunity, you’ve got to take it and grab it with both hands.
“I don’t know what is happening on Saturday – but if selected I’ll be ready.”
“One thing I won’t ever forget is the opportunity given to me by coach Gernot Rohr to prove myself in the senior national side. My gratitude to him for the chance.
