A young Lagos-based female boxer, Saida Raheem (aka Eleshe Ni), has revealed three of her burning ambitions that she wants to achieve before adulthood.
The first is to represent Ogun State at the next major national boxing championship, second to wear Nigeria’s colours at the 2028 Olympic Games, and third is to make top marks as a leading fashion designer.
Although Saida struggles to express herself in smooth English, she does not allow that pose as a threat to her ambitions, and she does not harbour any complexes.
While she is quite shy, Saida does not harbour any inferiority complex, as the energetic lass is very ambitious and has already set her sight on where she wants to be in the next five years.
Saida then revealed how determined she is to make her mark in both boxing and tailoring, hence the zeal with which she trains every evening, after spending morning and afternoon at work.
Friends and neighbours have noticed the passion with which she approaches her mixture of two vocations, and many believe she will soon become great at the pace she is currently going.
Saida acknowledged the support she receives from various fronts on a daily basis, especially from her parents, which she says has added to her gusto and boosted her zeal for glory.
“I chose boxing because I like it,” she stressed, “My parents support me to be a boxer because they want me to be a champion.
“I don’t fight on the streets, but I started boxing just because I like it.”
She also spoke about her journey so far and threw the lid off where she is determinedly heading to for a future of bliss in boxing and fashion design.
“I have had three fights so far, and I won all of them. That improved my interest much more in boxing.
“I am happy that I am doing well in the 56kg category, and, for now, no one can defeat me there.
“I have not represented any state so far, but I look forward to fighting for Ogun State and then help Nigeria at the Olympics.
“I also want to do well in my tailoring job, which we now call fashion designing.
I sew female clothes like gown, shirt and blouse as well as wrapper and top for female native wears.
“I manage to combine boxing and fashion design by working at the shop from morning till afternoon, then I train in the evening,” Saida disclosed.
