FC Copenhagen attacking midfielder Akinkunmi Amoo has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022-23 season after he suffered a knee injury in a training match on Saturday.
“Akinkunmi Amoo unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday’s training match against Silkeborg, and after scans and examinations he has unfortunately been ruled out for the rest of the season,” the club announced.
Copenhagen chief physician Morten Boesen stated that Amoo has undergone surgery and will start his rehabilitation. He also stated the length of the injury which is presumed to be between 9-10 months.
“Amoo now has an operation, then rest and then a long rehabilitation before he can train with the team and play matches again. Altogether, that process will last 9-10 months,” said Morten Boesen.
Amoo has battled injuries since linking up with FC Copenhagen from Swedish club Hammarby in January. The 20-year-old has made just four appearances for the Danish Superliga champions since his transfer. Two of those appearances came during the current campaign before his season-ending injury.
