Chairman of the maiden Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) of RC District 9112, Rotarian Olutusin Ademola says the week-long camp at Sea School, Apapa, Lagos will equip all participants with skills they need in facing future challenges, sports247.ng reports.
While expressing a bolt of excitement that 154 females turned up for the camp and outnumbered the 140 males present, Rotarian Ademola, who is also an assistant governor in the district, enthused that it will be a worthwhile experience for them all.
He also heaped praises on all chapters of Rotary Club for sponsoring each of the 294 participants, now fondly called RYLArians, with a verdict that the attendees will all create better social impacts with what they learn in the camp.
Ademola expatiated, “RYLA is an annual event for Rotary International, where all Rotary Club districts worldwide contribute and partner with other individuals to invest in our youths.
“It is aimed at making these youths become responsible leaders of our society, and this year’s RYLA is not an exception.
“The theme of this year’s RYLA provides an opportunity for the participants to discover their potentials, improve their skills, as well as inspire them to connect and exchange ideas that will shape them for future challenges.
“We shall also ensure that the participants are provided with the opportunity to develop their natural abilities and character.
“That enables them to evolve into Rotary’s ideals and policy document that conceptualised this youth leadership academy.
“We will make sure all the participants have training in the skills and tactics needed to discover their potentials.”
The jocular assistant governor of RC 9112 ended with a charge to all participants to create a ‘magical impact’ on their various communities, after returning home at the end of RYLA 2024 on Sunday.
