The Super Eagles started the journey to Morocco 2025 on a clean slate, pummeled Benin Republic 3-0 last Saturday in Uyo, and they will take on the Amavubis of Rwanda on Tuesday as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (2025 AFCON) qualifiers continue.

The team put behind their lackluster performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers behind them, and gave Nigerians a lot of joy last Saturday as Ademola Lookman brace and Victor Osimhen’s clincher gave Super Eagles a good start as they chase a place at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
That performance has raised the bar of expectations as the Augustine Eguavoen led Super Eagles are expected to consolidate on their good start out of the block and get a result against the Amavubis.
The Odds
The present crop of Super Eagles are bad travellers, as they have struggled to get results on the road, coupled with the inconsistent performance of recent. However , the odds are in their favour irrespective as expectations are high from their supporters to conjure another victory, irrespective of what the opponent throws at them.
They will be facing a Rwanda side that got a point away from home against Libya and they will be motivated to go all out against the Super Eagles to prove two points, as a win for Amavubis will take them to the top of group D, and it will also mean the first time will be losing to Rwanda in any competitive football.
The Super Eagles must find enough to fly past these extra motivations for the Amavubis and get the needed result as the team has proven to be a tough nut to crack under their new German coach Torsten Frank Spittler with 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss in 7 outings.
Predicted Line Up
For Nigeria to get it right , the formation , and players combination must be right before we can begin to look at the execution and outcomes.
The 3-4-3 formation seems to be best that the present dimensions of players in the Super Eagles as at present after Jose Peseiro reached the final of the 2023 AFCON using the formation and the way the team blew away Benin Republic last Saturday playing with the same formation for most of the game.
It will be unwise to change a winning formula, so it is expected that coach Augustine Eguavoen will stick with the 3-4-3 formation.
Stanley Nwabili is expected to retain his spot in the starting line up in goal, while the centre back trio of Calvin Bassey, William Troost Ekong and Semi Ajayi will be retained as well.
The midfield pair of Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi are expected to continue from where they stopped against Benin Republic baring knocks and injury while Ola Aina and Bruno Onyemachi should also retain their positions in right wing back and left wing back respectively.
In the attack, the trio who finished the match against Benin Republic are looking good to start against the Rwandans as the Super Eagles attack was a delight to watch after Osimhen and Moses Simon replaced Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze in the second half and took the game beyond the visitors with two second half goals.
