Rotary Club Of Ikeja Alausa Installs New President, Sola Ayanwale In Grand Style… Rolls Out N33 Million Projects For Charity

Saturday, August 19 20123, a finance expert, Rotarian Sola Ayanwale was installed as the 3rd President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa, a family of Rotary International, District 9110 Nigeria.

The official presidential investiture of Rotarian Sola was conducted by the representative of the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Nigeria, Rotarian Tayo Adelaja, the Assistant Governor, Rotarian Dr. Basirat Giwa, and the Chartered President of the club, Rotarian Asepere Shonibare who is also a member of the Installation Committee.

In his inaugural speech, the new President, Sola Ayanwale gave a breakdown of the projects he planned to execute in collaboration with the club’s new board of directors.

He said, as a humanitarian service organization, Rotary is ever committed to creating hope for humanity through its dedicated seven areas of focus.

The Whistle gathered that they are Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Disease Prevention & Treatment; Community Economic Development; Peace Building & Conflict Resolution; Maternal & Child Health; Vocational Service, and Basic Education.

He made mention of a potpourri of projects the club has executed at Olusosun Primary School, around the Ojota area of Lagos. The most recent, he said was a donation of a fully furnished and medically equipped Sick Bay to the school management among other projects.

‘’I have already hit the ground running, even before this investiture ceremony as the District Governor, Rotarian Ifeyinwa Ejezie honored us with her presence and gave good comments about our projects which she commissioned on Friday at Olusosun,‘’ Says the club’s president.

‘‘There is more work to be done’’ he quickly added and appealed for more support so the club can carry out more projects in other areas.

To achieve the N33 million fundraising target proposed for charity projects in the new rotary year, the President said the club hopes to raise the estimated amount through voluntary donations from corporate organizations and some generously spirited individuals.

The grandiose ceremony which was proudly supported by Grand Oak Ltd, the marketers of popular alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, was graced by an array of dignitaries and other distinguished guests.

Former Chief Examiner, Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN), who is currently an Associate Academic Intervention Adviser at Buckinghamshire University Technical College and also doubles as an Examiner at Cambridge International Examination, United Kingdom, Teju Olatunde attended in person, as the Father of the Day, The Whistle Reports.

The Managing Director of Tripple Gee, Chief Mrs Adebimpe Giwa, was the Special Guest while a former Director, Corporate & Investment, LAMATA, reported to have contributed immensely in the planning of the World Bank Assisted Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority for a record of 12 years, was the Guest Speaker.

Another highlight of the event was the induction of the new board members of the club which includes the Vice President, Henry Ikechukwu Akwara; Secretary, Melvin Iriase Obadan; Treasurer, Sandra Ekeh; Club Admin Director, Joy Ashien; Youth Director, Lovette Ochicha; Membership Director, Oluwabunmi Ogunkunle and Public Image Director, Elizabeth Azubuike.

The others are the Chairman of the Installation Committee and Rotary Foundation Director, Jide-Ojo Olusola Jide; Service Project Director, Michael Otegbayo Rotimi; Club Learning Facilitator, Thomas Iwo; We Care Director, Aderiyike Olukayode; Sergeant At Arms Director, Kunle Awoghoro; History & Archives Director, Moyosore Makanjuola; President-Elect, Stella Nwanyieze Arukwe and the Immediate Past President, Tonna Oguzie Ofuasia, who was unavoidably absent.

An abridged account from the rich profile of Rotarian Sola Ayanwale revealed that some years ago he missed his first-ever opportunity of becoming a Rotary Club President.

According to an extract from his profile, Sola Ayanwale is a man dotting many impactful hats in the corporate and social aspects of our society.

He is a renowned Supply chain expert with working experience in Accounting & Finance, Operations Management, Logistics & Inventory control.

He is a distinguished member of high-value professional institutions including associate member Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, [CITN], Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Mgt [CIPS], a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, [ICAN] and others.

Sola’s journey as a Rotarian commenced in June 2016 with the Rotary Club of Ughelli metropolis, District 9141 and he served as Sergeant at Arms in the 2016-2017 Rotary Year. In 2018-19 he became the Club’s President-Elect/Vice President, but he could not transition into the role of President as he was redeployed to Lagos State from Delta in 2018.

However, his Presidential dream came through after he joined the Rotary Club of Ikeja Alausa, District 9110 during the era of post-COVID-19 in the year 2020.
